Crop succession requirements in agricultural production planning
نویسندگان
چکیده
A method is proposed to handle crop succession requirements when determining the cultivated areas of n crops for a planning period of T years. For each year, the decision variables represent the areas where a sequence of m crops is cultivated, m ≥ 1. Here, m + 1 is the length of the longest forbidden sequence of crops not containing any forbidden subsequences. The crop succession constraints are linear in the decision variables. For each year, the number of n decision variables may be reduced by forming suitable combinations of crop sequences. For this purpose, an algorithm is presented. Also, multi-year linear programming models for farm production planning containing crop succession constraints are considered. It is shown that, under some regularity conditions, a stationary cropping plan is an optimal solution of such a model. Finally, it is discussed how to determine forbidden crop sequences not containing forbidden subsequences, when a collection of forbidden sequences is given. AMS 2000 subject classifications. A Design of an Expert System for Intercropping Planning
In the past decades, the world’s food production was mostly practiced by a monoculture system, i.e., growing only a crop over an area. The monoculture causes damages (or changes) to the biological diversity, especially the soil fertility. The sustainable agriculture is an approach of managing crop ecology in order to maintain the biological diversity, productions and long-term human existence. ...

متن کاملApplication of Fuzzy Multi-Objective Programming in Optimization of Crop Production Planning
Planning for the optimal use of productive resources in agricultural systems leads to the conservation in addition to the promotion of farmers’ socio-economical conditions. Being certain or precise in any decision making in agricultural planning is impossible. Fuzzy mathematical programming techniques, developed in recent decades, are the most appropriate and applicable approaches to include th...

Establishing trees in agricultural bottomlands is challenging because of intense competition, flooding and herbivory. A summary is presented of new practices and management systems for regenerating trees in former agricultural fields in the eastern USA. Innovations have come from improvements in planting stock and new silvicultural systems that restore ecological function more quickly than trad...
